Domino – A Comic Book Character

Domino is a type of game, either board or card, that uses a pattern of squares arranged in rows. The squares are numbered with a system of dots called pips or spots, similar to those on dice. Dominoes are used to play a variety of positional games, where the player places one domino edge to edge against another with the pips matching (usually in a row). Then each adjacent side of the domino is either blank or patterned with numbers to form a specific total. The player continues until all the dominoes have been played or the game is won.

The word “domino” also refers to the effect caused when one event causes a chain reaction, like the falling of a domino in a table game. The term can be applied to real-world events as well, as in a business strategy that is sometimes referred to as the domino effect. In this approach, a company focuses its resources on the most important task at hand. Then, the rest of the work flows from that point. The most important task is a sort of “main domino,” which receives the greatest amount of attention until completion.

In the comics, Domino is a mutant who possesses powers of luck. This unconsciously controlled ability allows her to create a force of good that affects the outcome of certain actions. This power is most evident in her ability to luckily avoid injury and death during combat or a dangerous escape.

She is also capable of activating a kind of domino effect, where she can affect multiple events in a short period of time. This can be triggered when she is stressed or upset and is not fully controlled by her. For example, in Civil War: X-Men #1 she caused lightning to strike two sentinels.

Domino’s fortunes improved when she was recruited by the mutant mercenary Cable to join his Six Pack. When the Pack dissolved following a mission in the Yucatan, Domino went her own way. She eventually joined X-Force when Pete Wisdom offered to turn the team into a proactive black ops group.

The Six Pack was hired by Thin Man to determine the state of affairs in Rumekistan, where it had been taken over by Flag-Smasher and his anti-national terrorist ULTIMATUM group. During the mission, Domino was attacked by the assassin Blockade and nearly died. Later, she reunited with the Six Pack and helped them track down the mysterious mutant smuggler Gryaznova. During the battle, Jesse Aaronson used his ability to disrupt machinery to deactivate Domino’s implant, which allowed her to defeat Gryaznova. After that, she was re-contacted by Cable who asked her to rejoin the team. She has since helped them battle the Undying alien Aentaeros and is currently battling the possessed mutant Corben.
